The 'Rising Stars' font is Hopeless Heart

the MyFonts newsletter of features and fonts - Jan. ’06 (issue 22)

This font is LTC Jacobean Initials

e’ve already broken all of our New Year’s resolutions except one: providing you with the hottest new fonts at MyFonts! This month’s Rising Stars features an elegant, elaborate script; a comic font with personality; and a connecting script in OpenType Pro format. And in Design Trends, we look at Valentine fonts.

Three Rising Stars
Every month we provide new, innovative fonts and sign up new foundries. In this 22nd issue of Rising Stars, we want to show you three of our top-selling new fonts.

Ellida is a new ornate script from Wiescher Design. The designer tells us while he enjoyed making the font, the creation process was extremely time-consuming. It is quite a challenge to make calligraphic letters work on computers so that they join perfectly!

Ellida

Designed with comedy in mind, ZOOOM is a chunky, comic book sound effects font with personality! ZOOOM would look great on everything from birthday invitations to packaging for toys. For added wackiness, the uppercase characters are staggered on the baseline. ZOOOM comes in two weights, regular and italic.

ZOOOM

Sonora is a new family in the OpenType Pro font format. It comes in six styles: light, medium, bold, and the corresponding italics. Sonora is a very distinguished, elegant and versatile script font.

Ann’s Valentines

Ann's Valentines are heart-shaped dingbats that you’ll use ’til your heart’s content. A dingbat font to fall in love with, Ann's Valentines includes heart-shaped pictures that are perfect for web design as well as print.

Whumsy

PizzaDude has released many new designs within the last year, including Party Noid, Xantigo, and Whumsy. They’re romantic fonts that go all the way — from cartoonish to elegant, from funny to serious!

Follow-Up

Last month we featured Ultimate Ornaments as one of our three Rising Stars. Currently #27 on the Best Sellers list, this font contains 47 beautiful, decorative ornaments, all easilly accesible using the punctuation, number, and letter keys on your keyboard. It was inspired by the decorative elements supplied by European foundries and printing companies in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Ultimate Ornaments

If you like fonts by this foundry, we have a number of fonts from Gerald Gallo that are new to MyFonts in the last year:

“I searched for 3 months on so many other websites for an Old English Font. I had no luck until I found this website. I was able to find the Collins Old English and it is exactly what I need. Your site is AWESOME! Thank you!” — Renee from Pennsylvania, January 8, 2006
