Karibay has been creating fonts since 2013. The name Karibay was coined after "The Richman", which means "Old Richman" in Kazakh. The company was created in 2013 by designers from Kazakhstan. The designers, having gained experience creating Cyrillic fonts, asked themselves the question “why are there no Kazakh fonts and why is there no support for specific Cyrillic letters?” and while looking for answers to these questions, like-minded people found each other and created a company
