À propos de la famille HGB Aka Police

In 2021 this font was created for a plaque commemorating Sophie Scholl's 100th birthday. She was executed by the National Socialists in 1943 because she and the White Rose group had called for resistance. On the back of her death warrant she wrote the word “Freiheit” (freedom, liberty). The HGB Aka font is reminiscent of the modern spirit of the 1920s, when Sophie Scholl was born and the Weißenhofsiedlung of the German Werkbund was built in Stuttgart. Some of the buildings (by Le Corbusier) were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016. The art academy where I caught the type design virus is in the immediate vicinity. The second influence on the typeface is the humanistic san serifs from the period after 1975, when I started my independent work.
