Three Rising
Stars
Every month
we add new, innovative fonts and sign up new foundries. In this 23rd
issue of Rising Stars, we want to show you three
of our top-selling new fonts.
Estilo
is a very elegant headline typeface in a 1930s style with plenty
of ligatures, providing you with more flexible design possibilities.
The font includes small caps and Greek characters as well as standard
Latin characters.
Opus
is an experimental and modular font (“mod,” too!), designed with computers in mind.
Opus comes in two weights, regular and thin.
P22 Sweepy is a brush script that is casual and
fluid. In the expanded OpenType version, Sweepy includes over 50 alternate characters and ligatures that
offer more flexible lettering options.

Did You Know?
In order
to make finding the perfect font as easy as possible, we assigned descriptive
keywords to fonts at MyFonts. Now our Font
Keywords list is better than ever! We’ve included the top 250
keywords, with bigger type indicating that more fonts are assigned to
that particular descriptive term:
Our Font
Keywords are a great way to find fonts for that design project you’re
working on!

Focus on Design
Trends: Retro Fonts
Do
you ever feel the need to go back in a time machine and relive your
youth? At MyFonts, we can help you do that without the need for
any fancy space age equipment. We have a nice collection of Retro
fonts that just may help you get back, get back, get back to where
we once belonged.
Pink Martini
The
Pink
Martini family includes Pink Martini Regular, Italic, Bold,
Bold Italic and fabulous retro Icons. Tipsy stems and playful curls
combine to make a really fun retro font family. Bring back the good
old days in your designs!
Orange
Whip
Orange
Whip is a super friendly, all caps, decorative font that works
well for posters and signage. The typeface designer gives a helpful
hint: the metrics are already set pretty close, but if you decrease
the distance even more so that the letters overlap, you can get
a nice custom look (make sure you fill in the negative space with
a fill color, though).
Candy Square
Candy
Square is part of the classic Candy family. Inspired by vintage confectionary packaging, Candy Square still yields
a modern look and is a perfect display typeface for any use, even
at small sizes.

Canada
Type keeps cranking out new designs, including Jojo,
Jonah,
and Happy,
all released just last year. These fonts are excellent choices for
book covers, greeting cards, invitations, posters, party flyers,
short comic strips, or that silly garage sale sheet you’re
going to tape on every pole in the neighborhood. These retro fonts
are so good they just may give you a flashback!

Follow-Up
Last
month we featured Sonora
as one of our three Rising Stars.
Currently
#10 on the Best
Sellers list, Sonora is a distinguished, elegant, connecting
script. It’s high tech too: these multilingual fonts are delivered
in the new OpenType Pro format, and use the technology to swap in
special ligatures to get a true joined-up look – over 1000
glyphs are available in each font!
Choose from six different styles: light, medium, bold,
and corresponding italics.

If you
like fonts by Profonts, be sure to check out Valentine!
Valentine is a new script typeface family with versions in light,
light italic, medium and medium italic, supplied in the new OpenType
Pro font format. Valentine contains a huge number of handmade ligatures,
character combinations and alternates to make it a perfect OpenType
Pro connecting script. Valentine is a very distinguished, elegant
and versatile script font.

That’s fun for me!!!” — Joyce, Retail Shopkeeper
