Cinque Donne means “Five Women” in Italian. It was inspired by the five sisters in my family as well as a group of five high school friends I have known for 46 years, aka “The Club Girls”. The Pro version has 3370 glyphs with all the bells and whistles! Women are connectors, encouragers and supporters. Young, old, shy, extroverted, when you put us together, somehow we make a beautiful impact on each other’s lives. This is what Cinque Donne does in a visual way. Some letters are simple and prefer to sit quietly. Others are flourished and proud and like the limelight in the middle of a word. And then there are alternates that are flexible and work in any number of surprising places. Stylistic sets can add a vivacious feel while contextual alternates bring better understanding. Classic or contemporary, subdued or flamboyant, these letters represent the variety of women that make life interesting for us all. Über Debi Sementelli Type Foundry

After a long career working with brides and wedding planners as a lettering artist, Debi Sementelli made the leap into the font design world. “I saw the need for another option to original hand lettering,” she said. “So I partnered with Brian Bonislawsky and formed our joint foundry, Correspondence Ink.” The duo saw success with their first two fonts, Belluccia (which spent an impressive 26 months on the Best Sellers list) and Dom Loves Mary–so much success in fact, that Debi was inspired to venture out on her own. In the summer of 2013, the Dallas-based designer debuted Cantoni, the first typeface for her self-titled foundry, The Debi Sementelli Type Foundry. Remaining true to her first love, each of her fonts is hand lettered. “I always start at my light table with paper, ink and a pen,” she says. “I do about 100 sheets of lettering to create several sets of alphabets, both upper and lower case, as well as tons of alternate letters.” Debi says that she creates her typefaces with invitation designers in mind. Perhaps it is her 25 years of experience and insight into the niche that she has to thank for each one of her fonts being featured in our Rising Stars newsletters, Hot New Fonts, and Best Sellers list.
