André Leonhardt studied integrated design at Anhalt University in Dessau, where he finished his degree in 2005. He also took part as a guest student at the class for type-design at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, Academy of Fine Arts. After starting three years of working at Metadesign Berlin as a Senior Designer he switched to Stan Hema Branding Agency in 2009 where he among others designed the new typeface for Dr. Hauschka. Since 2010 he also worked as an independent contractor in Berlin. Between 2010 and 2015 he was teaching typography at Anhalt University in Dessau. 2016 he left Stan Hema to solely work as an independent contractor. At this time he also co-founded the type foundry Interfont together with Dennis Michaelis.
