About Autokratorika Font Family

It is intended primarily for literary texts, while its roots are lost somewhere in the 11th century. Takis Katsoulidis, having edited an album in 1980 with the Imperial documents of Patmos for the National Research Foundation, observed that these writings have a peculiar, own character that intrigued him. So, he came back to them later by selecting one of the documents, namely the Chrysobull Nikephoros III of Votaneiatou of 1079, and used it as a template for his font. The Imperial documents of Patmos are texts that were exchanged between the Byzantine emperors and the monasteries. These are independent four-page set documents that were called Chrysobulls" and their content regarded instructions to other Byzantine centers. "I saw that this writing, like the one of the Komnenian is a script that passes through the heart of Byzantium, from the 11th century, "says Takis Katsoulidis. "Nevertheless these are not the Byzantine letters as we know them, some are more rounded while others are very condensed. This is the character I tried to keep. The "Autokratorika" is a monolinear type."
