Guenter Jacki (Günter Jacki) was born in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt in 1936. From 1958 to 1962 he studied graphic design with a focus on book design at the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts (Art Academy). Typography, lettering, illustration and photography. After graduating, he worked for publishers (overall design of books), Deutsche Post (design of numerous stamps) and pharmaceutical companies (package design), as well as for agency projects. In the 1970s he became a lecturer in the "Institute for Book Design" at the Stuttgart academy of art. From 1975 he was able to work as a professor in the department of communication design, also at the art academy in Stuttgart. Although he was involved in type design in his teaching and some of his students published typefaces at Linotype, Font Shop, and Emigre USA, he never found the right time to design a typeface intended as a font. Only in a book he published, “Looking for Tansmission / Die Form als Argument”, he presented some experimental typeface designs.
He retired in 2004 and has dedicated himself to typeface design again since 2019.
