About KunKun Tamil Font Family

Sometimes, in corporate communication or editorial design work, you want to craft a message that looks handwritten but is created with the ease of typography instead. That’s a trick that also comes in handy when designing restaurant menus or the insides of greeting cards. KunKun Tamil is a “handwritten” typeface. Typographically speaking, KunKun Tamil should probably be classified as an informal sans serif, even though terms like “serif” and “sans serif” aren’t particularly applicable to Tamil. Each letter in the typeface looks like it was written with a single monolinear stroke, and the letters’ terminals are fully rounded-off and almost sausage-shaped. Several characters have forms that don’t follow the tradition of printed type. They strengthen the handwritten look of the typeface, too. There are also Latin-script characters in the font, which do not connect with each other. KunKun Tamil is a typeface for texts that need a personal note. KunKun Tamil’s design feels lively, and texts set with it feel fun. The fonts ship in two different formats. Depending on your preference, you can install the typeface as a single Variable Font or use the family’s three static OpenType font files instead. These are Light, Regular, and Bold. Users who install the Variable Font have vastly greater control over their text’s exact stroke width and can further fine-tune its on-screen appearance or how heavy it is in print. KunKun Tamil is part of the Indian Type Foundry’s KunKun multi-script superfamily. Aside from the Tamil script, we’ve created variants for the Arabic, Devanagari, Gujarati, and Latin scripts. Dhwani Shah designed KunKun Tamil at ITF.

About Indian Type Foundry

Founded in 2009, the Indian Type Foundry (ITF) designs and distributes fine-quality, multilingual fonts for both the Indian and global market. ITF specialises in creating and developing both custom and retail fonts. ITF has designed and licensed fonts to some of the world’s most iconic brands including Apple, Google, Samsung, Sony, Amazon and Hyundai to name just a few. Its retail library offers fonts for text and display use, in visual styles ranging from traditional to experimental. ITF currently offers over 200 retail font families across 20 writing systems. ITF’s Kohinoor font family is on permanent display at London’s Design Museum as part of the “Designer Maker User” exhibition, which recognises this work as a historic milestone in the field of graphic design.
