Max Phillips is the proprietor of the Signal Type Foundry. A typographer, graphic designer, toy designer, and novelist, Max is the former creative director of FAO Schwarz and a co-founder of the pulp revival imprint Hard Case Crime, for which he wrote the Shamus Award-winning mystery Fade to Blonde. He lives in Dublin with his wife and two sons.
