Monica Maccaux is an educator, type designer, and graphic designer. An Associate Professor & Director of the Graphic Design Program at UNR, she has over 19 years of experience in the design and advertising industries. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute of the Arts in Brooklyn NY and her MFA in Graphic Design from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, with a focus on typeface design. Her practice, Blue Taco Design, focuses on client work with a range of needs from apparel design to branding and advertising. Ampersand Type Foundry is her newest venture where she focuses on making custom, quirky type projects and exploring the idea of variables and multiples, where projects take on experimental ideation with unexpected outcomes.
