Mujahid Al Fikri

Mujahid Al Fikri is a typeface designer based in West Java, Indonesia. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in Indonesia.

While in High School, he learned a little bit about Arabic calligraphy. Before completing his undergraduate degree, he became interested and self-taught about Hand Lettering with a little knowledge of Arabic calligraphy. Armed with minimal knowledge and often sharing the process and results of his work on social media, he began to get clients who wanted to make logos or just quotes for only about 2 years.

He had stopped working in the field of Hand Lettering for several years. He began to get opportunities to work as a typeface designer who focused on sketching. Because of his lack of knowledge, he began to learn independently about the process of making typeface sketches, from reading some literature, analyzing the visuals of several fonts to creating formulas used to speed up the performance of sketching.

Fikri always continues to learn and explore despite the limitations, such as using open-source programs like Inkscape and FontForge, or reading literature available for free on the internet, buying books that are priced according to the wallet, or asking experienced typeface designers through social media.
