About the family

Roond is a well-developed display typeface with pleasant, rounded, voluminous, and organic shapes. It looks especially great as an uppercase font. It is ideal for branding elements in the food industry (packaging & menus) or cultural fields (poster design, newsletters, etc.). Due to its unique form design, it can also be used for logo branding. However, its main use will likely be as a display typeface for striking headlines in magazines, blogs, or newsletters. Roond is the first typeface from the graphic studio Balua, created as part of a cultural project. Five common and fitting ligatures have been incorporated into the font. To add a bit of fun for users, the font also includes 17 symbols that can be accessed via OpenType or the Glyphs library.

Features:

  • Lowercase & Uppercase letters

  • Numbers & Punctuation

  • International character set (multilingual)

  • OpenType features (ligatures)

  • Additional small set of symbols

Balua welcomes feedback and wishes you lots of fun designing with Roond.

About Balua

Balua is a small Swiss graphic studio based in Zurich that provides graphic services for small to medium-sized brands. At its core, Balua specializes in the design transformation of identities into visual presentations. My passion for typography developed through creating many wordmarks for my clients. The next step, expanding a wordmark into a typeface, was not far off.Originally, I trained as a carpenter. The foundation for becoming a graphic designer was laid when I attended the preparatory design course in Zurich. Afterward, I gained practical experience over several years as an intern at agencies and graphic studios. I then started my own business under the brand "Balua" as a graphic designer. Working with fonts is a passion I pursue alongside my client projects. In my free time, you can find me in beautiful places in nature – in the Swiss mountains or on the Atlantic coast in nearby countries, where I gather a lot of inspiration from people, nature, and culture.
