Started SWMCA in 1977 as "Calligraph Stephen" Calligraphy Stand. Yes it is true that Steve was ten years old when he started what would eventually become SWMCA Brands and Holding LLC. Two calligraphy books, a bottle Higgins ink, and a holder with several calligraphy nibs (mostly Speedball); were gifted to Stephen McBride by Doris Yonkers, at Faith Lutheran Church on McGrew Grove in Kansas City, Kansas -so technically we actually have two founders. That's what began what became our company.
