About Sumply Font Family

Sumply is a multi-layered type family based on geometric forms. A monospace display typeface which comes as a family of four. It is equipped with OpenType features and contextual alternatives to create a versatile and fresh output. Sumply initially was designed to be used in personalization processes in digital printing. By choosing the basic geometric cut (FOUR), patterns and various graphic elements can be created just by importing text variables into the indesign data merge. If combined with the other cuts the possibilities are sheer endless. Sumply was selected to be in the 2016 edition of Typodarium.

About Martin Gnadt

Hello. I am a graphic designer from Berlin. When I was a child, I started to discover urban typography and got addicted to understanding letters, their anatomy and the possibilities to play around with them. Through that I realized that I am not on the hunt for perfect beauty, but rather the possibility to create characters with distinct personalities. After receiving my diploma in communication design in 2010, I did a four month internship at Sagmeister Inc. in New York. Now I run my own studio in Berlin and spend quite a lot of time experimenting within the context of type. I teach typography at the design akademie berlin in Kreuzberg and give workshops. Besides creating typefaces, I do editorial design, visual identities, printed materials and websites. Check out my work here.
