About Venetian 301 Font Family
Venetian 301 is the Bitstream version of the Centaur type family, originally designed by American book designer Bruce Rogers. Rogers based his design on the Venetian typefaces of Nicolas Jenson from 1470.
The beautiful italic of Venetian 301 is inspired by a typeface from Ludovico degli Arrighi and was developed by Frederic Warde, an American calligrapher and typography researcher.
The letterforms of Venetian 301 owe much to the pen-drawn letters of the Italian humanist minuscule and cursive. This elegant humanist typeface is ideal for the finest typography, excelling in both book text and display matter.
The Cyrillic version of Venetian 301, including original small capitals, was developed for ParaType in 2003 by Dmitry Kirsanov.
Venetian 301 main characteristics:
- 6 styles in total
- 630+ glyphs in each style
- 15 OpenType features, including Small Capitals
- Extended Latin and Cyrillic support
