Tom Carnase - né en 1939 - typographe, créateur de caractères, enseignant, graphiste.
1959 : après avoir terminé ses études, Carnase rejoint l'agence Sudler Hennessey Inc. à New York. 1964-68 : designer indépendant. Ouvre le studio Bonder Carnase Inc. (WTC). 1969-79 : vice-président et associé de l'agence Lubalin, Smith, Carnase Inc. 1979 : ouverture du studio Carnase Computer Typography. 1980 : cofondateur et président du World Typeface Center Inc. une agence indépendante de création de caractères. Publication du magazine interne "Ligature". Outre la création de caractères, Carnase a conçu des graphismes pour des emballages, des expositions, des identités d'entreprise et des logos pour de nombreux clients, dont ABC, CBS, Coca-Cola, Condé Nast Publications, Doubleday Publishing et NBC. Il a enseigné à l'université de Cincinnati (Ohio), au Pratt Institute (New York), à la Herron School of Art (Indiana), à la Parson's School of Design (New York), au Cleveland Institute of Art (Ohio), à l'université de Monterrey (Mexique) et au Rochester Institute of Technology (New York), entre autres.
