[link not found] César Puertas’s Buendia family comes in six carefully cultivated styles that give the editorially-focused typographer everything she needs and nothing she doesn’t. Need a strong bold italic for text? Of course you don’t. Who does? Need a complementary sans for heads and subheads? In a few different weights? You got it. In terms of range the family is so rich, trying to pair something with it was more like icing a cake.
Blog Script is Alejandro Paul’s recent collaboration with letterer Carolina Marando, a sometimes-connecting casual brush script that mixes a cursive lowercase with Roman caps. If Buendia needed anything, something to do for it what Blog Script does is it. See how Buendia’s lettering-inspired design connects with something that’s more visibly the product of the hand?
The above styles are repeated to show that each of Buendia’s weights come with a set of small caps, and that Blog Script is worth it just for its caps.
For book work, two styles of Buendia seem to cover just about everything, but keep Blog Script in mind for the cover—and obviously for the promotional materials.
