One advantage to choosing the ‘Pay as you go’ option is the ability to use the same webfonts across multiple websites and domains. Later, once your website visitors have spent the number of page views you specified at checkout (or once you’re getting close, actually) you’ll be notified that it’s time to ‘add page views.’ We’ve designed this to be a simple, one-button, no hassle process.
The other obvious advantage is that you only pay for the page views you use. So if you’ve got a client with a site that receives very little traffic, or one that plans to soft launch and test public response, the ‘Pay as you go’ option would be quite cost effective.
On the other hand, if you’re the type who prefers to pay once for webfonts and be done with it, that’s our default licensing model for webfonts. We just ask that you monitor your monthly page views and purchase the appropriate license if the visits to the site exceed what you initially specified at checkout. For more details on all of our licensing options (thrilling subject, I know) please see our Font Formats and Licensing Options page or read each foundry’s end user license agreement, featured prominently on that’s foundry page.
